IT'S FINALLY FINISHED. OMG. YES.
You have no idea how happy I am right now. I have seriously spent the last month working on this video. Was I obsessed with this project? You could definitely say that.
Anyway.
I tried a lot of new things with this video, with effects and masking and stuff. I don't think I've ever done that much masking... ever. I think I'm getting better at it. :D
AND THERE'S A STORY (albeit a rather abstract one)! -is making more and more story videos lately-
NOTE: A very large portion of this video is just Balthier mourning Aerith. Most of the bits with actual story are flashbacks.
Story:
In the beginning, Balthier is conversing with Aerith's ghost (yes, she is dead and, yes, I am unoriginal!), either in a dream or for real, you can decide. This conversation will be explained later.
Then, not much happens for a little bit. Aerith is dead and Balthier is sad. Thats it.
When it gets to the 'Memories that I could never have,' part, we see that they were engaged, but never had the chance to marry. (RASLER IS BALTHIER, AND ANY TIME YOU SEE ASHE, SHE'S SUPPOSED TO BE AERITH, OKAY?)
Now, we have more of Balthier being sad. In fact, from this part up until the instrumental break at about 3:10, I was really just trying to convey that feeling. He's /really/ sad. Depressed. Okay.
Now here's where most of the story comes in via flashback!
Aerith is just hanging out in the church, waiting for Balthier, and admiring her ring, you know. So, then Balthier's on his way to meet up with her when he sees that he's being followed! He gets worried, so he runs to warn Aerith, but the baddies beat him to her, so by the time he gets there she's already been shot. He holds her in his arms one last time (omg, wtf, cheesy) and then she dies.
As it turns out, his best intentions (from the conversation at the beginning!) were to keep her safe by not telling her that he was a pirate. He'd spent his whole life running, and when he finally met and fell in love with her, he decided he would do anything he could not to endanger her life, even if it meant lying to her. This, ultimately, caused Aerith's death, so one cannot blame Balthier for being uberly depressed.
Back to the present!
Aerith is worried. Very worried. She doesn't blame Balthier for what happened to her, and she's tired of him beating himself up over it. She appears in ghost-form, via lifestream, to Balthier, to assure him that she still loves him and that her death wasn't his fault ("You see, everything's... alright."), and then she leaves.
Balthier is then able to stop blaming himself for what happened, and Aerith continues to watch over him. The end. :)
THE VIDEO IS WATERMARKED BECAUSE I DON'T THINK I'D BE ABLE TO CONTINUE LIVING IF IT WAS STOLEN.
Awesome work. How did you do the 2 same clips over each other, Did you keyer them or did you do something else
