Vauxhall Astra Mk6 beats VW Golf and Ford Focus Millbrook

I'm doing that circuit on Saturday in a production (not pre-production) model. I'll post my thoughts then. And I've driven the circuit before.

No need to spam! And its a personal choice. - Personally I wouldn't be seen dead driving a VW.

You said they sucked until you went round a corner in a Vauxhall & wore a sign post! A Golf & a Focus can handle those bends comfortably at 2x that speed. I could see that the driver was having a tough time pushing it through the bends. He kept braking hard, bashing the kerb & nearly crashed! If you did the same thing in a Golf or a Focus at that same speed. It just wouldn't happen, you would be going round that track like you are following train rails. You wouldn't even need to brake!

Its apparent & pain-stakingly obvious that the Golf & the Focus were NOT competing with the Ashtray - sorry Astra. Look outside the box - The other Drivers may have been novices who have never been round the track before. This video doesn't solidly prove anything about the new Astras handling & speed being better than a Golf or Focus. I really don't know why it was titled "Vauxhall Astra beats VW Golf & Ford Focus" It was a waste of 1:45 seconds of my life!

OK. So why don't you rename your video to "New opel astra stressed to take over a cruising Golf and a focus"?
And why so much hate for the Golfs?

golf is not shit, it's just over priced and it's also more expensive to insure and service and it's not very strong at all!

Because Germans know how to make something decent & reliable that goes round corners. GM doesn't! They understeer so much into corners, tractors could even overtake them round a bend, Push them & you will be wearing the sign posts! I saw an Astra SRi Sport hatch for sale outside of Sainsburys. I was shopping for Veg. Picked up a packet of broccoli & the packet said: Say No To GM! Even vegetable packets at sainburys now warn you about vauxhalls these days for christ sake!

Golf's are shit, A boat would be more useful.

Better than Ashtrays. If I had to buy a reliable car with a decent gear box where better to look than VW? If you want GM shite that hasn't got a 10 year paint warranty on their cars like the VAG group, finally finished with a ghastly oil leaking Fiat JTD engine that the AA patrol man warned you about... get an Astra CDTi.
