at the conclusion of the last furious presto section, just before the quiet ending, I spontaneously heard/saw the tubercular Chopin coughing up blood on thekdyboard. what a masterful interpretation!
I personally think that the slower sections were to unstable (in terms of tempo and rythm) but I thought the presto sections were as furious and aggressive as they need to be, same with the coda. I thought the last line was a little rushed. I see how you can like it though.
This ballade is hard, but the hard parts are a lot of patterns-patterns that must be slow practiced a LOT (and yeah, there are some stupidly hard jumps too.)
Isn't this piece about a happy family, then a rainstorm comes and eventually washes away one of the young children? I heard that from a concert pianist that played this piece once.
I hate to say it, but I don't like this interpretation very much.

Have you ever heard Richter playing Ravel's Miroirs suite?
Oh also, Richter was world famous. And you're a young pianist. Let's see who's more credible here: Richter, or you. Now hmmm...

Do you have the recording of Richter playing the 4th ballade. I can only find fragments of it on YT.
