Here is part 3 that covers getting paid as a technician. For the most part it is as I outlined in the video but if you have other input I'm open to hear it. Once again you can post text or video responses to this and let me know about your experiences.

  • Well Eric, Just a update. I have since put in my 2 weeks notice. Between getting RO'd the cut warranty jobs, and the sync updates that paid 0. It was time. Being a single home owner it was going from feast to famine and I was starving. Even going on CL to do side jobs to make it in bad weeks. Too all the Ford Tech flat raters keep truckin guys.

No 401, workin holidays, and getting my own insurance it was just taking its toll too much in the pocket book. Awesome, realistic videos on the topic.

  • @2stage90 That sounds like you've been getting the short end for some time, I hope things work out for you. Best of luck.

  • flat rate really takes its toll. especially in the dealer like you said, with warranty work. and for me, since my hoist gave up thats how its been work for 9/10 hours and getting paid for 4. just because i can't move the vehicles through. and when we are low on work, mangement gives us oil changes and tires, etc to do. well and oil change pays .4 but my time is up by the time i'm on stands, same for tire rotation. its .3 time is long gone before its on stands. and warranty, don't get me started.

  • @kenman1717 That sucks, I hope they get your lift fixed soon.

  • @ETCG1 actually they removed the old one last saturday, dug out the hole, dropped the new one in at the same time. i was on vaction this past week, cause they didn't know when concrete was coming, and it would be probably be tommorow before i could drive on it. another week and a half before i can use it, but i'm happy its installed.

  • @kenman1717 It's good to hear you're back up and running. Thanks for the update.

  • lol right service writers better be your buddy it will pay off . so if he sells and you work good every 1 gets paid. so much politics. everyone crying over the gravy work

  • @Loctain Mostly techs are paid flat rate meaning they get paid on what the job bills, if you beat book time your good, if not you starve. See the video I did on the flat rate system for more info.
