In the Name of Love is a 60 minutes documentation of the Love Jihad issue in Kerala, which had been debated in Kerala for several months in 2009-2010, thanks to the vicious campaign unleashed by the mainstream media against the Muslim community. According to the reports, certain Muslim fundamentalist organizations had assigned Muslim youngsters to fall in love with Hindu and Christian girls to marry and convert to Islam. Later, these girls were, according to certain media reports, either sold in the flesh market or trained to be militants. It was a Keralite manifestation of "Islamophobia". For the first time in India, it showed a unique alliance between two totally opposing parties: the Church and the Sangh. As it was a golden opportunity to tarnish the image of educated and accomplished Muslims in the state, the foes united and found a common target: Muslim youngsters in professional campuses. The documentary tracks and documents the history of the issue with the support of statistics and authentic bites of those who were part of the campaign and the counter-campaign. Almost all media professionals who ever involved in the issue, lawyers, media analysts, intellectuals and victims -- all line up in this documentary with their first hand experience and information about the issue. One might find contradictory bites, but, the intelligent viewer can draw reasonable conclusions. The most striking aspect of the documentary is that, for the time after the Kerala High Court verdict which categorically dismissed the Love Jihad issue, the prime accused, Mr. Shahan Shah, a native of Pathanamthitta, appears before camera and talks about the ordeal he, his family and friends went through during the Love Jihad campaign days. Prominent writers, scholars, journalist, and intellectuals like KEN, Dr. Sebastian Paul, Leela Menon, J Devika, K P Ramanunni, O Abdurahiman, VAM Ashraf, Pro.Yaseen Ashraf, Justice Khalid, Shahansha, BRP Bhasker, MKM Jafar (Madhyamam), Vadayar Sunil (Kerala Kaumudhi), MR Ajayan (Kerala Shabdham), Father Dr. Albert Nambyaparambil, Former Kerala High Court Justice KA Gafoor, O Abdullah, Advocate Jayasankar etc are take part in this documentary.
