Learn how to calculate crosswind component using a cross wind component chart. Crosswind component is crucial when learning how to fly as it can help you determine if its too windy to even fly or which runway to use.
Hello again, MzeroA, You are correct and I stand corrected. Thanks for making me stop and think a little more about heading, wind direction and runway orientation. Listening to ATIS with the wind 290@20, I would have set up for takeoff and landing on rwt 27 expecting a crosswind from the right.
Jeesh, I can't believe I made such a simple mistake.
@ornottoobless Hello There, Yes you are right abt the 7kts Crosswind.. But if you are Landing on 270 and the wind is blowing from 290 .. you will be having a Head wind of abt 18 Kts... Not Tailwind ... Correct me If i am Wrong...
Hi MzeroA, If you're on final for rwy 27 and the wind is 290 @20 you will be landing with a tail wind. Still a 7kt crosswind component. Am I correct or did I miss something? Thanks, A 200 hr perpetual student pilot.
