R.I.P. The REV
-
Hey guys, why fight about stupid stuff when we could be all agreeing on how epic The Rev's scream was! That was the best "restraints are useless here" scream ever.
-
Why doesnt he scream anymore? he just sings the screaming bits now.
-
@ThexSeventhxSeal Hahahaha... Let's see, tell me one straight up death metal band that doesn't use guttural growls. Oh wait, that's impossible because all of them do. The bands you have mentioned don't use gutturals. They used screams, even back then. Also, a band's influences doesn't make it hard to define a genre. You still continued to argue after you said you were done. If you were done, you would have ignored me for good.
-
@ParasiticDevourment dude im done arguin with you. not all death metal bands use guttural growls and not all metalcore use screams. as i lay dying and all that remains uses guttural vocals and both are a metalcore band. u failed there. anyway its all a matter of opinion and semantics because metal bands have alot of inflences from multile sources so that its hard to pin down thier "genre". your beginning to bore me. u need to go smoke a joint or drink a beer and not take life so seriously.
-
@ThexSeventhxSeal You obviously didn't notice I said they were more like metalcore "when they first started out". So the fact that you tried to correct me on what style of music they play now just made you more of an idiot. Death metal vocalists use guttural growls, not screams. So technically you agree that the two are entirely different based on how you defined them. If you compare Dying Fetus to a metalcore band, you'll hear many differences. You have failed three times in your argument.

@ParasiticDevourment u just contradicted urself u fucktard! metalcore and deathmetal are subgenres of metal. so how could they not be remotely similiar to a subgenre thats in the same genre they get classified as? metal = all sing, no scream Metalcore = half scream, half sing Deathmetal = all scream, no sing and of course the instrumentals get progressively harder. thier actually alternative rock if you want to be technical about it, i was just saying what it sounded like.

Far from subject,
But i would like too verify this definitely is an early form of METALCORE,
And this song could easily roll with the generic breakdown-death-breebreecore of today and own every one of them because this is the start of many metalcore bands.
-
@ThexSeventhxSeal They were never remotely similar to death metal nor punk rock at all to begin with. If anything, they were more like the early form of metalcore when they first started out. Also, you don't have to evolve in order to survive. If anything, you have to write music that appeals to a majority of music fans and a ton of promotion in order to survive.
