When I first watched this opera, I thought that Don Giovanni and Don Ottavio were gonna have an epic duel or something... haha sort of a Hollywood-esque assumption on my part. But you have to admit, Ottavio doesn't really do much in terms of his "oath"
Creepy!? I think it's beautiful, comforting... not the way this guy does it... but it's one of the lines that makes me melt... not a big fan of this version, kinda dissapointed, I was first introduced to rene through Thais, where her acting was unreal... this, not so much... my favorite version of this song is the rene jacobs recording...
Why? In my personal opinion, Don Ottavio is so confused and shocked by what has happened that he does not know exactly what to say, is just desperate to calm his fiancee.
I have to disagree because I find that Donna Anna must have a heavier type voice, not so much spinto, but with power, such as Carol Vaness or Leontyne Price. It only fits that her lover Don Ottavio have the same type of power in his voice. More on the full Lyric side than spinto, such as Jerry Hadley

Don Ottavio should have taken a cue from Antoine Dodson at this point in the opera! haha

I think it adds to the darkness of the opera. As much as Don Giovanni is a comedy it is a tragedy as well.

I always found the line "hai un sposo e padre in me" a little creepy. Fleming is such a gorgeous Donna Anna.

for Mozart, I find Paul Groves much easier to listen to than some of the tenors with more power at the top...
