First-time director Damien Chazelle infuses his black-and-white, 16mm verite-style relationship drama with all that jazzy romance of an old-Hollywood musical. Backed by a grand, alternately rollicking and melancholy score, Guy and Madeline tracks a pair of young lovers in Boston after they separate, search for new romance, and perhaps find their way back to each other. Screening at the 2009 Tribeca Film Festival. For more information and tickets, visit www.tribecafilm.com/festival.

@bigNberlin2 for the most part, yes. i just dont understand what it is with people doin films in b&w. the other stuff you said made sense for a film but just not that b&w part. i wonder, are they tryin to make it look as though events took place a long time ago? or that all of this was some dream they had where anything can happen which includes the world bein absent of color? the latter is more plausible IMHO but of course should include a scene where the person wakes up.

@shindogg "its totally fake because nobody opens their eyes and sees b&w"
No one gets jump-cut from one place to another, or is followed by voice-overs, a soundtrack or has any of their major life-experiences neatly wrapped up in 90 minutes, either; do you understand what Film is?

In this we are the same, this also is my fav scene from this amazing movie at filmsi.co.cc. OMG this is so amazing movie! This movie was amazingly complex and moving, simply from the visuals. Also, does anyone know the style of clothing it is that he's wearing in space?

@shindogg well i dont know but maybe b + w has something to do with a rejection of the 3d hd culture and a hark back to better times, like the trumpet player does when he speaks of coltrane and parker, that or just a small budget.

its in b&w like it was filmed last century but somethin tells me it wasnt made that long ago. this dont fly well in the world of HD and everything digital. things were in b&w some 50+ years ago not by choice but rather because color was expensive or wasnt available at all. usin it nowadays is plain asinine. its totally fake because nobody opens their eyes and sees b&w. i like to know what color somethin is, not hurt my eyes strainin to figure out what shade of gray is what color.
