@Blackfork6 Thanks, that does help to an extent. I have extensive shooting experience already. I just didn't know if there was any mechanical way that may be better to operate it or anything like that.

funny as hell when you can here someone hit the flag pole during offhand. It is even louder in the pits. The flagpole is all rusted from being hit hundreds of times,

@gregstiles21 you can try the cmp for a rifle, but first you have to shoot a cmp match to qualify.go to your local gun club and ask about cmp matches and gun rentals(if you dont have a iron sighted un altered militery rifle of course!)shoot the match, you dont have to win hust demonstrate safe handling of the firearm and at the end they will give you a cirtificate!
Looking to get into this. Is there a "Rifle Matches for Dummies" book or website. I'd like to start collecting the necessary equipment and gadgets so I'm ready before I register for one. Thanks.

@yzerman1997 The Army Marksmanship Unit put out a little book that the CMP sells. Service Rifle Book on the Civilian Marksmanship Program website.

Hey man, tomorrow I am shooting my first match. I will be using a 1903 Springfield. Any tips you can give me that will help with the 1903?

@AmericaStandsStrong1 Use your WORST stripper clip first. Cheekbone smashed to the back of thumb joint. Concentrate on the front sight and trigger.

i have seen a couple of the 03a3s for sale but with 2 groove bores they seem to be cheaper on average , is the 2groove bore alot less accurate than the more standard 4groove barrel ?

@idgewe I hear they may be worse or better. Mostly depends on the condition. As a rule they don't seem to be any better.
