  • What command are you using to do this? It should n't open it read only. Make sure you are using the correct disk, sometimes /dev/hda could be a cdrom. Also don't use /dev/hdX1 or sda1 you only need to specify the disk. like /dev/sda.

  • i think i have a problem, after i type cfdisk, it says "Opened disk read-only - you have no permission to write", is this a problem? if so how can i sort it?
