It should be detonated at several hundreds of meters up for full effect, like 600m or so would be perfect :)

I dont even think it is a nuclear bomb ! The mushroom is to small, normally the mushroom will glow, no ground shakes, no dust rushing at full speed and hitting the camera like normal nuclear bombs.
