In regards to what you said about the mural: Why do you think we have Black History Month? If not for that Africans' contributions to this nation would almost completely unchecked outside of the Civil Rights Movement. Ironically, many White Americans despise BHM, but if the contributions of enslaved Africans was included among American History, BHM wouldn't be necessary to begin with.

(I'm not saying that having African Americans in this country is shameful! I'm saying the fact that we made slaves out of Africans is shameful!)

They didn't put Africans on the murals because African's arrival to the U.S. is considered a point of shame, not a point of pride. Africans were forced to come here as slaves. It was not a joyous occasion for them, as it was for the Puritans. We can't erase our slavery past, but we don't have to put it up on murals, either. There are many sad things in our history, the saddest being, imo, the genocide of the Native Americans. C'est la vie.
