Heres the latest episode of our Wind Car series, clearly were running behind the original plan, with episode 7 of 6 :)

But hey ho, I dont suppose the wheel was invented in a day - to mix metaphors a little.

We hit a big milestone in this episode with the first turning of the wheels and John Vidal from the Guardian joining us.

The car still looks a bit of a mess in some ways, a bit like road kill (no offence to the A-team) but the engineering fundamentals are in place now. Current best guess is first drive at the end of April

  • I love how he doesn't have a doubt that this is 100% possible... That is exactly the kind of mind set that I think everyone should admire.

The best of luck to ecotricity and everyone behind this project and projects alike!

  • I am excited on where you guys are going! Keep up the hard work!

  • How exactly is this wind powered? Wouldnt the added drag of any turbine negate any energy created? Dont get me wrong im no big physics freak as some of you seem to be, so i may just be talking out my ass here.

  • But that French car does no go as fast as this car and as efficient as this one...

  • the french have a car that runs on compressed air

  • @Takshia89 I know of the ducted type of windmill and you've explained the idea is to put such in the nose of the car. what is there to be secret about?

what do you mean by your people? you personally know the CEO of IBM?

  • @DanFrederiksen well I'm not sure what facts you know, but I assure you that they are quite wrong. As I have mentioned I work with IBM and my VCs are people within IBM. Now, the fact of the matter is that as I am working with IBM, we are not simply going to put our work out in the open before anything has been finished. And you should now that. Now putting your work out there is great, but we are international company and we're not risking any thing. The CEO, CFO, and CIO are my people :)

  • @Takshia89 I have no doubt your idea doesn't work and that's not meant as disparaging, just a matter of fact. but I'd like to see any website you may have with specifics about the project. or pictures of any tests you have done.

and what right people do you have in mind if any? VCs?

  • @DanFrederiksen well we'll just have to disagree on our points. Believe it or not, but my concept does work, and at the moment I and IBM( not sure if you know them) are working on such a thing. So I have seen your designs and they "seem" to be interesting, I'm sorry but I think they're just going to stay on that website of yours for the rest of their life. So keep up the good work and if you want to really take your work further let me know and I'll get you in touch with the right people.

  • @Takshia89 actually it is you : ) I easily understand your idea, it just doesn't work.

and I'm very innovative, take a look at this car concept of mine (zev. dk) and you can check the rocker engine principle in my youtube vids.

I've thought of a design for a practical inexpensive flying car too. something never done before. not something hideous like the terrafugia and similar attempt.

  • cool project. interesting choice to use belt drive and two motors. is the gearing a custom design? what kind of efficiency does it have?

and what's the cars 0-100km/h time?

  • DanFrederiksen I actually do know what I'm talking about. I work closely with IBM and people in the auto industry. So my word of advice to you is stop looking at the prototypes of yesterday. So thank you for your invalid reasoning, but keep trying.
