For those that voted for Senator Brown, congratulations. Please ensure he holds true to what he says he will do, and if he can't he must explain quite clearly why not. Hold him accountable. For those that did no vote for him, stay true to your convictions, lean into discomfort and remain positive. Engage in the debate to try and see some of what you desire come to pass. Consensus and change are born in the cauldron of conflict.
Well see, we agree. Not sure why you simply repeated the statement I made about the 24 hour cycle being a problem, with a negative is if I thought it was a good thing. But uhh, well, it's good that we agree. As for the Austrian school, I think I made it quite clear I have indeed considered the perspective. Again, the critical question is have you questioned your own perspective. You're still being narrow.

My brother-in-law saved up some cash, filled out licenses, and tax work, and he was off cooking dogs. The challenge was customers. But uhhh, he found those too. The government didn't stand in his way at all. I'm really sorry about what's happening wherever you live. That is troubling.

@dsbrown3000 No my friend living in 24 hour cycle IS the problem, many people who are educated, lack the ability to listen, not to mention lack the ability to look beyond 24 hour news cycle. To look at what worked before. Just like you said you have been asked to look into Austrian economics HAVE YOU ACTUALLY done that? Look at the past then tell me if Keynesian economics works

@dsbrown3000 Well Ask your mother in-law what she had to go through to open it, and she got lucky, where I live the great Government wont let u open a stand.

When we have a machine capable of predicting human action and interaction, we will be able to predict economic outcomes, essentially predicting the future. We can't do that It's not possible. Listen, that monster from Jekyll Island and all that comes with it can be slayed, but how, when, and what with are what's critical. And then, you really have to consider what to do after it's dead. The same for Medicare. You don't quit without even trying, my friend. Medicare can be fixed. We can change.

Sam, thanks for sharing. I'm smiling. If I had $500 for every time someone asked me to consider the Austrian school over the last few months I would be worth half a billion. I'm fully aware of the THEORIES of the Austrian school, ant the perspectives of its proponents. There are other schools to consider. And no one school holds sway over what can't be readily calculated and predicted. The brightest and most respected economists acknowledge this. Human emotion drives economies not numbers

I'm fully aware of the issues regarding the examples you mention. I know what Californians unleashed on themselves, and the bindings they put in place that prevent them from readily changing things for the better. Now, that I'm aware of something you mentioned, might I ask you to go and take a look at what happened to Russia right after the fall? If you're aware, good. If not, check it out. You might find it quite interesting. Reference Jeffery Sachs, Neo-cons, Free Markets in Russia.

Sam, it is the sincere lack of critical thinking that is at the core of the issues. What's missing poisons our discourse, mangles our polity, hardens our ideology, and widens the schism. We can't think our way to common ground, because so many in power lack the ability to think critically. We all live in the 24 hour news cycle and are driven by emotional forces unleashed through small-minded, small- thinking, narrow-thinking agendas.

You have no idea how funny that is. My brother-in-law just opened a hot dog stand. No really, two weeks ago. Go figure. Anyway, it's not for me to go dig. No, you brought it up, not I. You mentioned findings, and I simply asked what findings? However, I am already quite informed, and incidentally it is all about wider thinking, critical thinking, and the consideration of perspectives, mental acuity brought to bear against our problems in multiple dimensions.

@dsbrown3000 As Far as phasing out Social security and Medicare, simple actually. Soon enough the nasty unfunded liabilities will come due, how about you tell me how USA will manage to pay over 100 TRILLION??? They will be phased out as a simple fact of not being able to fund those programs. And economists I mention have not just put forth theories, they actually back them up with historical facts. Look up Austrian school of economy, and if your mind is open then listen to them
