Hello everyone.
Yet again, it's been a while since I uploaded a composition to YouTube, but I'm hoping that will change. For the past year I have been actively composing, but making these videos has proved to be a greater challenge.
However, I'm hoping these problems are finally solved, and I'll be back to uploading music on a regular basis. Over the next seven days, I plan to upload a composition every day. This will hopefully get me back into the habit of uploading compositions to YouTube. In addition, you should be able to hear the progress I make in terms of composition, as the pieces I plan on uploading will cover roughly six months.
So, here is part 1; "To Distant Lands". This was my first major composition after I purchased EWQLSO Platinum Plus, although I didn't do much experimentation with the microphone positions. This piece was completed late January of 2010 (Yes, I have a bit of catching up to do), at at the time I was proud of my work. Looking back, there are a lot of improvements I would make, particularly in the percussion section (overused) and woodwinds (underused). However, I believe I had some good ideas in this piece, and the ending in particular was a definite leap for me in terms of orchestration.
Again, sorry for the absence, but I hope you enjoy this piece.
amazing...i loved the flute trills at the end...u are really good at orchestration =P

Very Nice AnonymousComposer. See for your video, i think it should be you making the video. As in as your making it, its recording it, then edit it to be fast, and just as you complete the song, the music ends. If you understand what i mean :D

@TubedProductions: That's an interesting idea. However, for a while I'm going to uploading videos of songs that I have already composed. I'll consider recording myself composing, but in all likelihood it will be more of a montage than a time lapse.

@18painfulmemories: Thanks. I've considered doing basic tutorials, but to be honest I don't consider myself even close to an expert on the subjects of composition, orchestration, or even midi orchestration. I'll probably make a video or two that goes through my creative thought process, and I'll see how that goes. Regarding reading, there are many great books on both orchestration and midi orchestration. While I have yet to purchase it, I hear "The Guide to Midi Orchestration" is fantastic.
