@LobsterPotsticker In that case there shouldn't be a word "anime" since it is a short for "animation", or should I say japanese english. My original comment was that I didn't realise what is the difference. I was questioning why there are such classifications.

most rediculous thing i've heard in a while
cartoon is any nonaccurate representation of life. even a drawing.
anime is just the japanese term for animation. all animation originating in any country.
get used to it.
I don't care if your whole in the wall country missuses the term. that is what it means as a word

@LobsterPotsticker I realise that, but in western countries (I'm from Finland, part jap, hi!) anime is generally used for jap animation that uses that particular style. For example, Lion King uses a diff style and thus is not regarded as anime. A more casual approach; family guy and simpsons isn't regarded as anime either. On the other hand animations that have that western style but orginated from Japan are not regarded as anime either. Thus this argument doesn't have basis.
