Almost four years ago, Monica Sifuentes (33) began experiencing unexplained extreme dizziness and fatigue living an active life with her husband, Luis (34), and two girls, Nicole (14) and Chae (6). Diagnosed as having pulmonary hypertension (PH), she survived the disease with a heart and double lung transplant.

  • @faithm: It was a mental and emotional challenge to embrace breathing again; to trust that I didn't *need* to be tethered to an oxygen tank with air forced into me all hours of the day anymore. I spent my first post-op weeks on so many meds that I was not consistently, completely aware of that big change (suffocating v. breathing), but when my pain meds were lowered, it all really began to sink in. There was so little discomfort (pain, pressure), in comparison, that it was like there was none.

  • Must be so shocking to go from suffocating to being able to breath, and feel no (or less?) pressure in your body.

  • so wonderful that monica survived!
