From CD: The Roulette Years

/Review 1/
Satiny, ear-pleasing sound checks from Philly's elegant Three Degrees. These '60s tracks preceded a scintillating run on Philadelphia International Records. The Roulette Years is loaded with phat remakes like "Maybe," "Who Is He and What Is He to You," "Ebb Tide," and "Trade Winds." The 22-songs encompass the best of their early years, and is essential for fans wanting another side of the "TSOP" and "When Will I See You Again" songbirds.
Andrew Hamilton, All Music Guide

/Review 2/
Includes some of the better known tracks from the master albums "Maybe" and "So Much Love", but with some Roulette rarities added. The younger, fresher voices of Ferguson, Holiday and Pinkney, give an indication of what was to come in their heyday of the mid-1970s. Stunning harmonies with funky orchestrations are typical of the late '60s early '70s, but with the unmistakable sweet soul flavour that was to become their hallmark. Fans of the Philly albums (The Three Degrees, Take Good Care of Yourself) will enjoy!

  • To all who haven't understood my comments: black's beautiful! I loved The 3 Degrees in the 70's with their Afro-American looks! And I hated Michael Jackson's white looks (although I do like his songs)! That's it.

  • @gsaugen but the Degrees are still just as they were before! No surgery like Michael; you can't expect of people to stay the same as 30 years before ?! Didn't you change since ? OK, enough 'bout this - I'm proud this fab group still excists today - at the moment they are in Japan for different shows and in the new year 2011, january & february, they are in the UK for a tour.

By the way - they also have a new single called "Holding Back". This is "the longest running female trio in the world" !!!

  • Are THE 3 DEGREES more Caucasian? Are they following Michael Jackson's steps, trying to be white people? I prefer to see them black as they used to be in the 70's. (GILBERTO SAUGEN, a white man fan from Brazil.)

  • @gsaugen why u say that ? well, neither being black brown yellow or white is a disease...

  • they are just wow ....

    whatever they sing

  • @gsaugen why all the 'color' comments? Just enjoy the Three Degrees beautiful voices and talent. Everyone seems so hung up on their blackness (or lack of it, whatever that means). What ever color you want to associate with them, they are still beautiful women with angelic voices! And, to me, that is all that matters. And, light skinned or dark skinned, they are still african american women with gusto!

  • Luv it now that's how u sell a record album cd LOL

  • classic is all i can say

  • excelent
