What people forget is this. He not only lost two years of his career. He lost two years of his PRIME. The Knicks should have brought him back. They could have worked around things. What could Bernard King and Patrick Ewing done together?
@swiischeeseisnasty I understood that Bernard wanted to work out alone without anyone watching him during his comeback attempt. Al Bianchi was the Knick GM then and I'd imagine that because Al didn't see him, he didn't want to fork over any money. Those "Al must go" chants were not completely fair but sometimes you have to let a man be free to work on himself. Bernard knew his body.
Saw lots of Bernard back iin the day and I even saw hum in Dc when he was a Bullet. He had a big game against Xavier McDaniel of the Suns and X man was frustrated and tried to rough him up. King only became tougher to defend. Such determination!
Bernard "All-Business" King....@dimichi13, he was one of the most respected players in the mid-80s. Other great players feared him. He played with so much determination and couldn't be stopped with that quick-release.
@dimichi13 Maybe could have been but never won the big one or came close and his career was desimated by injuries. If he had stayed healthy and with Ewing on board, the Knicks probably would have notched a ring or 2 in the late 80s early 90s.
