All the mentioned artists have their gifts for sure. The Sibelius is a concerto that has a transparency allowing for different interpretations that are quite different and yet valid. Heifetz or HH use an icey serentity....the Northern lights....while SC or ASM will put the heart and soul of Finlandia into it. All wonderful..all appropriate. So enjoy a little salsa with your pickled herring, and stop the pious judgements.

She has mad bowing skills and I love all the emotion she puts into it. :D

No doubt that Sarah Chang is a great violinist, but I am not a big fan of overly dramatic vibrato she does almost all the time... Her passion is great, but sometimes her passion goes over the top and loses the overall beauty and structure, and I think sometimes Less Is More. Well, it's a matter of taste after all. I love Kyung-Wha Chang, Oistrakh and Midori on Sibelius.

AMEN. hilary hahn's interpretations may not be as distinctive as others, but her playing IS mind-blowingly perfect and it's very soothing to listen to every time. she can't disappoint:)

@zucchini2007 True but Hilary Hahn's playing is just like a guide. I always refer music pieces which have sophisticated rhythm to her playing. It's just..near perfection.

Have got to say that, this is one of sarah chang's best performances in a lot time.

As much as I love this version, I prefer Jascha Heifetz's the BEST. I bought a CD containing this concerto and several others, and Heifetz just has an effortless, graceful fluidity in his technique that no other violinist ever had(or has). Not only that, but he plays every single note like if it was written for him! That's why he's the greatest violinist ever!!
Nevertheless, I LOVE Sarah Chang. Korean violinists really rock my world!
Why most of the time, people care about musicians' race? just enjoy the music...
