For patients with narcolepsy, a loud noise or a strong emotion can trigger the body to fall asleep instantly.

  • @a089599 Thanks for your reply. We'll agree to disagree.

  • @dannymike2 Then you also have the fact that people are different, there's no set truth that applies to absolutely every person with a same diagnosis.

  • cataplexy loss of muscle tone ..the brain- hearing and and the pain censers are totally aware of everything.. possible with some if you hold open their eye lids they can see clear or blurry.. triggers happy sad or in between ..smells- heat- cold- stress -light -startle- the people around you with auditude - to nothing depending on the person... the up close and personal thing with the floor sucks and what ever you hit on the way down--were into out 12 year now ..son has cats only as for me pwoc

  • Dannymike -- I qualified my comment with "most people," but fair enough, I based it on my son's experience, where 5 minutes (what the video says, not even the 5 to 10 you cite)is insufficient to feel a positive effect.

The cataplexy comment is beyond stupid and reflects a complete lack of understanding of the condition. Frankly any "expert" making that comment is better off ignored.

  • @a089599 Wrong, wrong, wrong. Five or ten minute naps are refreshing. If they are not you are either not religious about your sleep schedule (go to bed at the same time every night, get up at the same time every morning) or the naps you take are too long. I'm 66. I know because I have had a lifetime of experience.

  • Cataplexy is not sleep. Also, most people with narcolepsy would not say 5 minute naps are "very refreshing" Helpful, yes, but you'e exaggerating.

  • Cataplexy is not sleep.

  • ...if I keep listening maybe she will bang me.

  • id like to take a nap with her! hahaha
