Around 12am on Nov 4th crews were called out to an outside fire In East Hanover Twp. When command 39 arrived he confirmed 2 barns fully involved with a 3rd barn about to take off from radiant heat. Engine 48 and then Rescue 46 were the first to arrive. The barn measured roughly 60ft wide bt 320ft long. Both barns (open style) were completely filled with straw with the owner claiming that it was 2million dollars worth of staw. Tanker shuttles were started and more were requested. Tankers were brought from atleast 3 different counties. This should've been a typical surround and drown. However, the ground surrounding the barn was completely saturated to the point that even the rigs seen in the video that pulled just slightly off the drive way had to be pulled out. All crews did a great job in doing what they could but the barn was far too involved. The decision was made to protect surrounding structures and babysit the barns as a controled burn. Great job from all crews!
