  • @ MickNJ1979 Don't give credit to a unit where credit's not due! Out of 1400 262s built only a few dozen were operational at any 1 time. Nearly100 were lost but only a couple of hand fulls of them were air to air kills, 2 by Urban Drew, 1 by Chuck Yeager, (thats 3 of the hand full of kills alone), RAF has kills. As does the P-47 units. Only 3 262 air victories are recorded by Red Tails: by Roscoe C. Brown, Jr., Charles Brantly & Earl Lane.

  • @danielnowotny developed in 1948, but it was 1950's is when the afterburner was "used" in production engines.

  • @Artaxeus No- the flame you see with the me-262 only comes during starting process. Afterburners are used inflight and were not invented until late 1950's.

  • @danielnowotny Thank you dude, So we should disable the afterburner look like flame on the WWII flight simulation IL2 1946. Good info.

  • @Artaxeus No. The afterburner concept appeared in 1948. You can see flames (1:48)due to fuel leaks on the rear chamber.

  • Did me-262's had afterburner like flame on the jet engines at maximum thrust?

  • @MW2FreakonPS3 does that include the silent T on the end?

    he IS saying it correctly.

  • at the beginning he sais "meschersmidt" you say messerschmitt not meschersmidt

  • Although far ahead of the technological curve, the ME-262 was doomed by Hitler's insistence that it be developed first as a fighter-bomber. This caused a serious delay in its deployment as a defensive fighter. The Luftwaffe was also short of well trained pilots and support crews, and it was extremely vulnerable to Allied fighters near its bases when taking off or landing. When possible, a defensive fighter 'umbrella' had to be in the air during takeoff and landing operations of the jets.
