Long time healing- I hope to add some harmony to this but it's been so long since I posted I figured I'd put it up naked. :) What else is heartbreak anyway?

Gone

The last "Hey Jude" closed down the bar
and ended our long, silent war
all I wanted was to move on

every day under the gun
i never knew the safety was on
til it was gone

i know i've got to let it go
but i haven't yet fixed what you shattered
ten years gone though it was yesterday
that the truth of it ever mattered

how did i let get that far?

the bad outweighed the good in time
i tried and tried to toe the line
while the bridges burned
til they were gone

lost in a constant winter's night
blinded by the absence of light

til your word was proved a lie

i sang you my most sacred songs
you used them in your war of wrongs
still you wonder why i had to leave

you broke my heart you broke me down
you relished in your thorny crown
you never knew what you had
til i was gone

i know i've got to let it go
