He did meet Claudio Gentile once. It wasn't a happy time for Diego, but then there is no defender in history as good as Claudio Gentile, not even Maldini.
But Diego is no. 1 for sure.

He was good, but all the brilliant players, EFOTYs and WFOTYs, which came after him, they were/are waaaay better. Ronaldinho, Zidane, Bergkamp, Nedved, Figo, Ronaldo Luís Nazário de Lima, C. Ronaldo, Messi. There is/was simply more skill and more anticipation, just the better football.

as much as people cry about the hand of god still i am from england and we still wouldnt of won that game even if he didnt do that he took on every player we had and still scored ....... maradona is the best of all time dont matter who agrees or dont in his time no football player had half the talent he had
