Nintendo hosted the VB demos in a small dark enclosed mini-theatre filled with attendees.
We stood in a lengthy line waiting to get our chance to see the VB games for the first-time
in the U.S. Nintendo wasn't allowing photography inside but I managed to pretend my camera wasn't
shooting by placing some dark wire tape over the recording light. So basically I went against their
policy and I had to be very careful that the Reps didn't see me recording.

Those of you who've felt Virtual Boy was misunderstood and saw its potential in the games -
Planet Virtual Boy IS the place to be: http://www.planetvb.com
Recently, PVB celebrated their 10th anniversary.
You're not gonna find a better VB community filled with useful information elsewhere.
So please show your support ^_^

  • Why'd you wait so long to upload this?

  • @ninjablooper - At first, I didn't know how to present the clip without something relevant like a site dedicated to Virtual Boy and its games. Then, I stumbled upon the Planet Virtual Boy site. I noticed they were pretty hardcore in restoration and legacy of the VB and its homebrew community. It got me very interested in providing them retro clips of the VB. It basically just felt like the right thing to do.

  • @natoel - Provide the source on such a case or it didn't happen.

  • @pstudeba - Just because you're 31 (soon to be 32 ) doesn't mean

your childhood passions end. Those that do lose their childhood passion

are the most dullest people on the Earth.

Thanks for the compliments...It was my pleasure...I'm also thrilled you got something

out of it. More to come ^_^

  • I wish Mario land VB would have been released, it looks awesome. Great video, could you imagine if you got caught :/

  • @DarakuTenshi Oh, if you were talking about handhelds, yeah, I have to agree with your comment. ^_^

  • @Holothurion Sorry I meant specifically for a handheld system. I know they had 3D games both in Red/Blue on the NES and a more advanced system on the Famicom similar to what most people have seen on the SMS.

  • @DarakuTenshi Since the GBC era? Games like 3-D WorldRunner and Rad Racer (both from 1987) feature a 3D mode compatible with conventional 3D-glasses, and are notable for being two of the first stereoscopic 3D games. There's also the Japanese only Famicom 3D System (a pair of liquid crystal shutter glasses that received video signals through a special adapter) compatible with a handful of games (Rad Racer among them).

Nintendo's been playing with 3D since before the original GB ever existed. ;)

  • sell them!!!! finish these games and please sell them (limited editions!!!)

  • It's a shame that proper Mario game never came out at launch, the Virtual Boy might have had a sliver of a chance then.

  • Someone needs to dump these.

  • NO WAY! A Mario game for the VB... grrrr.

I'm so upset that Nintendo canned the VB so early. I guess they didn't have a choice because the public was not very receptive.

I just learned that Nintendo has been playing with 3D since the GBC era. The 3D effects did not work very well with the technology then, but I for one am very excited for the month of May 2011. I'd like to see Virtual Boy games make a return as VC games on the 3DS.

  • so did you film this?
