@white93taurusgl Also have you noticed at that point for a second or two the deafening sound of the train traveling through the tunnel gets quiet? That's how I always knew we were entering the tube. Does it on the SF side too, for leaving the tube.

@lcirej71 The oakland vent. After passing that you are in the Transbay Tube

@LurkerPatrol5 its the Lake Merritt tunnel right? the one between West Oakland Lake Merritt. the train would go there slowly because of some crap happening there

I've always wondered where the point of the tunnel is that the land meets the bay. As I watched this video, I came to conclusion that the blue light displayed at 2.09 is where the two meet

Your ears don't pop from loud noises. They pop because of air pressure differences.

@lcirej71 I'm guessing it was this: 37.809851, -122.328421

BART is loud all over, not just the Tube, I would never ride BART without earplugs.

I remembered how quiet it waswhen I rode through the transbay tube back when it first opened to the public prior to revenue service in the fall of 1974 when a few excursion trains ran between the Coliseum station to the Montgomery Street station. The Embarcadero station was still being worked on and was not accessible at that time. Quiet through the tube back then. Loud now!!!
Most of BART is automated; The train operater doesn't have to do a lot....

I can recall sometimes they would go slowly through the tunnel in certain sections and it would scare the crap out of me.
