There's a lot of weird animal cruelty in Ub Iwerks cartoons. Like Steamboat Willie and Flip the Blacksmith. It's always like really creative too. I'm glad they didn't censor themselves very much back then

I agree, UB Iwerks created Mickey and from watching earlier cartoons like Plane Crazy, UB wanted to make edgier cartoons than what stodgy old Walt Disney liked. So he quit and formed his own studio where he was allowed to do what he wanted. EG make more interesting cartoons than Disney :)
