I disagree with the overshadowing bit; assuming we're talking about music and not fame, Pulp didn't play as well and blur's albums were never as solid as Suede's.

Exactly. Do we measure the value of the music according to the chart success and fame or something else? IMO, Suede was not underrated, not at least in my country (Finland). It was really applauded by the critics for most of the time and appreciated by those who wanted to hear music with some message in it.
