A scene that never made the original 2001 BBC TV series 'Masters Of Combat', I (Neil Axe - the show's Creator) as the program's Fight Director chose the weapon that no one else wanted to play with for this segement; the 3 sectional staff.

Speaking as someone who always prefered to fight competitively with weaponry (esp. with the Nunchaku), I can honestly say that I now know why no one else wanted it (lol).

A severe shortage of rehersal time (& a lower spinal injury) not withstanding, I'll be the first to admit that this was not my favourite piece of work (not by a long chalk); hence it not ever getting past the walk through stage.

However, my eldest son (Ryan) put in a number of hours editing this, with very limited bits of MOC footage available to him (whilst I was laid up with said back injury), so it holds a special place in my heart for that reason alone.

Love it, or hate it, MOC was a surreal place to be; as it was the world's first ever martial arts game show & also went on to hold the number one TV rating in its time slot!

Featuring Neil Axe (3 Sectional Staff), Rachel Grant (Elk Horns), Robert Hedges (Sais), Jamie Cho (Wu Shu Spear), Chloe Bruce (Pitchfork) and Wai Po Tang (Escrima Sticks).

  • Hi

Are you any nearer releasing the dvds for this?

    Thanks

  • Im afraid not; as getting a deal done with the original production company has proved MUCH harder than I ever expected... sorry to disappoint!

Also, my apologies re the delay on my replying, as I've been a tad snowed under of late.

    ATB,

    Neil.

  • Would love to see this series again. Pity the DVD dosen't seem to be working out.

  • Neil was an awesome tutor at the AGK academy, he had our respect and we had his! I was sarfaraz khan there, an awesome place to be. Feels so long ago now! Keep up the good work Mr Axe

  • Oh wow, thanks for this vid NeilAxe. I watched all eps of the show when it aired on BBC2 - I remember it took up the timeslot previously filled by Robot Wars. Got in the mood to look it up again a while ago, but for the life of me I couldn't remember the name of it! D'OH!

For the record, I would LOVE to get a DVD of this. I always thought it got cancelled long before its time, as sadly is the case with so many great shows. Hope you someday manage to sort out whatever probs you're having.

  • I used to have one of their cds back in the day. They remind me of the Jungle Brothers.
