Recorded on June 4, 2011 using a Flip Video camera.
Unplanned landing in Rhinebeck NY by a 77-year old pilot who is fine after making an emergency landing in the field
across Route 9 from the Stop & Shop supermarket.
Jay Castle of Briarcliff Manor, the pilot was the only occupant of the 1947 Aeronca plane and was not injured
and there was no damage to his small plane after the landing at 1:26 p.m. on June 04, 2011. He was flying from
the Columbia County Airport to an airport in Slate Hill in Orange County.
Castle, though, begin to experience engine problems en route and turned his plane around to try to make a landing
at the airport in Kingston. He was not able to make it back and "had to set the plane down in the field".
Amazing- looks like the pilot did a nice job keeping everything under control.

A skillful landing by a skilled pilot! I hope I fare half as well when I'm 77!
Nice video!
