no the gut is taken out and the gills are discarded, they are generally fried with some mosalla,
the taste is not great, but related to the feed of them, if they are fed mainly rice husk with a smatter of night soil, they are NOT GOOD, river fish are twice as nice.
I am part owner of a fishery near dhaka dokin, but very rarely eat fish ( or meat)
