One fun feature of First Diagramming is the "Group By" property. By setting this property on one shape, it makes any shaped dragged over it inherit the indicated property. So, moving a ellipse from inside one rectangle with Group By set to Background Color to another will cause the ellipse's background color to change automatically. This is really useful for swim lane diagrams, and downright practical for network diagrams segmented by, for example, subnet mask or domain.
