It is wierd ro watch this when he is so energetic in the movie.
-
he's so calm and reserved in interviews, which is so weird cuz his acting is so passionate!
-
These guys are really good interviewers. They don't ask the typical stupid questions like the late night interviewers. This is more organic and natural.

ROTFLOL!!! He used his camera flash to try to find a path out of the forest! OMG, that is just too funny! That's a typical VM moment...seems as thought things like that happen to him all the time!

@HARRYRABBITvmkname - Yes, the horse playing the title role, 'RJ' ,was the one I was talking about. It is obvious that he was not a racehorse -my point (he could have been a sprinter at 1/4 mile or under). In the movie he was not conditioned like a racehorse, not even a barrel racer. A wonderful horse but not a Mustang, and NOT suited to the role. I know there are Mustangs out there that could have played the role! Glad you enjoy it anyway!

@Jefferdaughter I also read that they painted spots on the horses. Keep in mind, a 3000 mile race would take longer than about the 2 hour movie. They just needed to be good and fit for the part being taped at the time. LOL RJ, the horse that played the title role is a trick horse, not a racer. There's a few videos of RJ and the trainer Rex Peterson.
Yes, good movie, good horse/s, Viggo was good. I've seen the movie about 6 times now and enjoy it.

@HARRYRABBITvmkname - Interesting. However many... the horse(s) did not look like Mustangs, nor horse(s) conditioned for an endurance race, nor even capable of a ace much over a quarter mile. Physiologically the opposite body type. A shame in what was otherwise an enjoyable movie. Viggo was very believable in the role, however. (smile!)

I have read here on YouTube from a few people that they used about 7 horses in the movie.

'Hidalgo' was a great story, but for anyone who knows anything about horses, the horse that plays the title role is the opposite physical type from the horse in the story. For those who do not know much about horses, it was like getting a heavy weight boxer to play the role of Lance Armstrong; just not believeable.
Tmeporary suspension of disbelief is the role of the movie goer, but many awesome horses, equally flashy, would have fit the role perfectly,. Still a fun movie, and a great horse
