@Niidlephish think of it this way: if they wanted to make a movie about plain people and conversations, the movie would have been about you ;)

@Niidlephish Well she did recite Chaucer to the cows on one of their day trips. Hughes wrote about it in a poem called Chaucer (I'm sure you know that, but thought i'd tell just in case you didn't) :) But yes, I totally agree!

You know, Paltrow and Craig could've done a wonderful job if this script was not such a crap!
-
Damn. Sick free style. <3

Scriptwriting issues aside,it doesn't change the fact that poetry can indeed have an incantatory quality, think of Dylan Thomas at his best,or Rimbaud ('the alchemy of the word'...anyone?)

@majalukahb thats why they are poets, get it?

Too much music man

those are some seriously pointy shoes
Poetry is magic. Poems are bombs.
This is a script written by people who aren't poets.

It seems that the filmmakers had a really shallow understanding of Plath's life and personality, especially her relationship with Hughes. Just because they were both poets doesn't mean they only spoke to each other in poetry, or that they went around having conversations like "I wonder if that piece of gum on your shoe would enjoy the collected poems of Yeats."
