Savatage always possessed fantastic musicianship, instrumentation, melodies, word imagery, and vocalization. Needless to say, they are an under-rated band. Great music that will stand the test of time.

@sinbysin666 They're one of my all time favorite bands. I even put on a Savatage Convention in New Jersey back in 99. First off look at their influences: Beatles, Queen and Pink Floyd. They just kicked it up a few notches. I wouldn't really say ahead of their time as much as just not being cliche in the metal genre. So yes, they were original in their sound but not ahead of their time.

@sinbysin666 It's not you....they were very much ahead of their time, and obviously not promoted well early on, since they're only 1000000 times better than every other band of their era. Paul Oneill and Jon working together really brought out their talent. It's a shame it took the formation of TSO for most of the world to see (hear) it.
