@g224amo I know what you're saying, but I think to see your child gain *that much* weight is more than just 'oh, you don't look good'. It's more like realizing your child has a chronic illness. I don't have kids, but I remember coming home from college after several months and seeing my dog (who was staying with my parents) and she looked sooo fat. I burst into tears, it just made me very sad that she was not in tip-top shape anymore. Weird example I guess, but does that make any sense?

Kirsten should go back into sports when she gets home. Not necessarily professional, but just join a local swim team or water polo team. She'd probably love it and it would help her keep the weight off on the outside.

Hmmm, wonder what her husband makes of that connection!! Actually he probably would have benefitted from joining her on the competition as he clearly is also very overweight indeed, LOL! I can see that being a huge problem once she returns home.
