From the Nyah 2007 festival, a selection of Sliabh Luachra polkas played by fiddle player Séamus Creagh (who hails originally from Co. Westmeath) and Rob Murphy of Cavan on flute. Séamus names the second and third polkas as "The Lonesome Polka" and "Dan Mack's" respectively.

  • I find these shows seems like such a waste. All the great music and ppl just sitting on there asses. what happend to the old school knees ups :(? I am presuming that sessions are more like that?

  • @darraghg06 Second one also called Jimmy Doyle's. Begley's goes with it in a set.

  • Maith an Fear Seamus. Go Riabh Maith Agat.

  • @mactcampbell, certainly the same Rob Murphy. he used to live there, as far as i know.

  • i thought the second tune is called begleys or jimmy doyles is it not?

  • Excellent. 5^. This looks like the same Rob Murphy I met in Saint John's Newfoundland. We played a lot of tunes together there.

  • Seamus says there is nothing lonesome about the Lonesome Polka but it moves me to an almost joyous sadness. So I suppose he's right!!!

  • Don Rumsfeld? Is that you?

  • Go ndéana Dia trocaire ar a ainm ♥

  • Good bye from Spain Seamus, rest in peace.
