When the Iron Curtain fell, the bomb became a symbol of another era. But in recent years, the threat of nuclear proliferation has grown more urgent, and the political will to eliminate nuclear weapons is greater than ever. The Social Action Campaign for Countdown to Zero will provide the tools and actions for becoming part of the global movement to demand total nuclear disarmament.

  • @rman12117 Oh, please try. You won't get this page filled. :-)

  • @Zeruju oh right right and if i were to write down all of the atrocities that japan has committed against china ALONE it would take up this entire page. you strike me as an incredibly dumb if not mentally challenged individual and you should get help

  • Discussion , and certainly debate, on this subject should be preceded by some serious reading: the four volumes (books) by Richard Rhodes that make up "The Making of the Nuclear Age." Volume One, 1988 Pulizter Prize winner, "The Making of the Atomic Bomb" exhaustively covers the period from about 1900 to the end of WWII, and is a great place to start. Read at least the first two volumes, watch Countdown to Zero, then come back and discuss. Visit richardrhodesdotcom/books.

  • @rman12117 "this may just be my Proud American Stupidity" -> Indeed, it is. :-)

It's just the proud bullshit of an American not able to admit the US has done multiple Holocauts in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, too. Events just in line with the Japanese-American internment, Agent Orange, My Lai, Nogeun-ri, Abu Ghraib, Guantanamo, the kidnapping of Manuel Noriega and wars of aggression against Panama as well as against Iraq, Vietnam and Korea,... Oh! It seems there is not enough space left!

  • @QuartuvLarry what i'm trying to convey here is that japan would've surrendered regardless. though they handled the situation pretty poorly, but no nukes would've been necessary.

  • @Darusdei That's it? Presumption? Show of force is not necessarily a bad thing, you see

  • @QuartuvLarry

show of force, the choosing of the targets, execution etc...

  • @Darusdei "naive bullshit"

How about some follow up on that claim?

  • i say NO to weapons!

  • @rman12117 after a surprise attack to a military target (pearl harbor, a naval base)

justifies the use of nuclear weapons on cities? or that if the japanese are doing something horrible to the chinese justifies you to act similar or worse?

you might want to look up the reasons why the bombs were used, "ending the war" is just naive bullshit...
