Here we see another clip taken while I was working this wonderful class 15CA from Kimberley to De Aar in 1992. Sadly this trip together with the 25NC no3481 behind was to be their last workings. Both engines arrived into De Aar with the heaviest train of the day (2300tons) and then we dropped their fires. They never turned another wheel under their own steam. The 25NC was cut up in 2007 but thankfully 2828 was saved by a private buyer and put on display near Robertson in the Cape about 2007.

  • @omahas9000 Yes. The details matter and the crew are best placed to tell them. This is why engine-mens' memoirs are so important. I love reading them better than anything else, complete with pranks and funny stories...

  • Fabulous!. And thanks for the story, too.
