  • ok my tower is 10.5 m how large of a gin pole do i need(what am trying to do? have a 45 degree angle? that is the size of the gin pole?? I was thinking of having a cemented post system to use with a winch ,, at the back to pull and let down

stay at my hotel escazu costa rica

  • @brucecohen69

A good rule of thumb is to have the gin pole height at least 1/3 of the tower height. And remember that the strain on the cable is higher the shorter the gin pole is.

  • I am ready to do mine how many feet is your... what is the distance from the top to the first cable 8feet?? how long is your gin pole?? hotcalif@racsa.co.cr can you weld free 2 weeks in cr

  • Hi,

The tower height it 14m, first guys are located 1,8m below the hub. Gin pole is about 4 meters in height. I've since added a second set of guy wires, 7 meter from the ground.

  • Who can be so DUMB as to walk under the tower with all that stress on it.

NEVER DO WHAT THIS GUY DID!!!!!!!!

  • Yeah you're right. I don't know what i was thinking that time.

To anyone planning something similar, it would be a good idea to plan the guy wire mounts such, that they can't tangle up on their own, and don't need to be watched during raising.
