For parkour where your going to be doing lots of intense movements using practically every muscle, ligament and bone in the body its good to warm up with dynamic stretching such as running in place, QM, jumping jacks, high kicks, and anything that'll get the heart pumping. At the end of training do static stretching because its then where you want to isolate the muscles and compress not before the workout.

hell yes is it a bad habit, i myself have simultaneously torn three muscles in my back leaving me unable to do parkour or freerunning for 7 months, all avoidable had i stretched -_-*
and great video man ankle strength is a very important but often overlooked issue, ill definately incorporate these moves into my training

You should do as many stretches as you can think of before training. I see too often nowadays that athletes, especially tracuers, are neglecting their stretching. It's a lazy and bad habbit.

man like befor i start traning i shud do it?
I have question, I regularly play soccer .
I used to feel some pain from overworking the ankles playing , but now that I stretch them before, I feel better and the pain is greatly decreased, I don't feel that discomfort of muscle fatigue in the game or any pain.
Though I do very intense stretching, To be honest I don't know if im doing more harm than good to the ankles. Do I have to tone it down , the effects will be the same if I stretch less intenesily?

@tadm123 Is it static stretching as in holding the stretched position for a long time? I wouldn't recommend that. I'd say test it. Stretch less intensely and see if you get the same effects.

i still don't think stretching ur ankles is a good idea since it actually loosens muscles and ligaments around the ankle that are their to protect it. kinda contradictory don't u think? as mobility increases, stability decreases (think about it)

Overstretching could cause the tendons to loosen, but these stretches contain a strength component since you're isometrically pressing into the ground. Therefore they'll only help you.
