Do u need a disc (for backups) to do this or do u just restore it?.

I had Vista on my VGN-NR11s. Then I decided to install Win7, wiping everything else out. I decided to give away my laptop so wiped everything out again to install XP fresh for her, but the damn thing won`t recognise that there`s a harddrive to install on! How do I get the laptop to install XP? I don`t have any `recovery disc`. The laptop has a Vista Microsoft code on the bottom of it though. Does this mean it will only take Vista or Win 7 but not XP?

upgraded to win 7 on my vaio. now my webcam and media buttons on top no longer work. went to sony.com and downloaded drivers but still dont work. please help

My VGN_CR120E has broken the wirless router, so i must reformat it usin Vaio Recovery. May i ask u these question?
1/ Should i use an external Hard drive to copy all of my Data or should i use Window Restore to backup Data? (which is more convenient?)
2/After i reformat usin Vaio Recovery, do i need to reinstall Vista?

1. I don't know anything about Windows Restore (I'm assuming it's part of Vista), but I think Vaio has a backup software.
2. The Vaio Recovery should install Vista for you.
