@myalteregohatesme im a drummer, and this solo isnt (particularly) that bad, but you dont need experience in something to know whether or not you enjoy it. i know nothing of game design, but i still know bad or good graphics when i see it, etc. etc.

Great skills. However..there's something I just didn't like about this, it felt like it was too..forced, I want to say. Mind you, he's amazingly talented, and I'd love to play like him.

@darthjoey13 Im not a metal drummer. I play funk, rock, blues, texas blues. pop punk things like American Hi-Fi Weezer type stuff. Im just sick of the thousands of drummers out there who seem to play the same material. If I wanted to I could just steel material from other people and just learn their patterns. Its taken me over 2000 hrs. to develope and build my material. I bothers me that these guys who haven't paid their dues are the guys winning. The ORIGINALITY catagory means nothing. Beeasy.

Originality? You would call flipping burgers at the same time while playing a double bass roll originality. Most of the great drummers, no matter what kind of music they currently play, learned how to play jazz before any other style of music. For someone to stay jazz drummers are shitty copycats should really re-evaluate why they play drums. Drum solo's are meant to pump up the crowd, but a great drummer can pump them up while throwing in jazz licks and every kind of lick that's in their arsenal, not just triplets over the toms and bass drum, which gets extremely boring(aka most metal drummers).

Your idea of "original material" is probably playing quads on the double bass over and over until the audience's heads implode from boredom. You want to talk about talent? How about Buddy Rich? How many rock concerts has anyone everybeen to and seen a jazz solo. None. Everybody wants to see a badass not a pattern expert who copy's all the old jazz legends licks. I will give Ivan credit he writes his own material. Originality is overlooked in this contest. There is alot of copycat bullshit going latley. Why have the last 5 winners fizzilled. None of those guys could go into a 10.000 seat Arena live and kick the headliners drumrs teeth out. The best drumr in the GALAXY shoud be able to.
