  • The way this DVD opens is priceless. Buy it and own a piece of heaven.

Monteverdi was the first composer to ever do an opera. (L'Orfeo)

Visit Italy before you die, kids.

  • Monteverdi's amen's are one of the most amazing ones ever conceived.

  • A feast for the soul! I remember seeing it on TV in the 80's. I was absolutely transfixed..

  • Peri was the first composer to write an opera (Dafne) but, the music doesn't exist... the next was Caccini with (Euridice) in 1600.... Monteverdi's L'Orfeo wasn't performed until 1607.

  • The Monteverdi Choir são apenas o melhor para isto. Lembro-me de assistir a este espectáculo, mas não se lembra quando foi o 80. Mas eu sair e comprar a gravação e ainda ouvi-la agora

  • Nice to see a "Laute" and a "Theorbe" (sorry, I just know the German terms) being played simultaneously... :-)

  • Too many painted women. Where are the boys?
