I feel bad for people who hadn't heard Elliott Smith before Guitar Hero featured him. But I'm glad more people are getting the chance to hear his music. I won't lie, I was a little pissed when Guitar Hero picked up Elliott Smith. The same way I felt when they picked up At the Drive-In, and The Fall of Troy. But good music is good music, and nobody should be trying to start fights over "who heard it first". The music is deeper than that.

Happy to say I've never played Guitar Hero because I think it's for faggot who never learned to play the guitar...I knew who Elliot was before he died, only regret is I never got to see him live..I was introduced to his music by a dear friend..glad I was.

I'll never get why people got so pissy when their favorite artists were featured in rhythm games. I discovered Elliott Smith through Guitar Hero, and I now own all of his albums on vinyl. What's wrong with that?

I'm laughing at the guitar hero comment, and definitely agree, but it's such a passing phase. Eliott's music has a depth of sound that is uncommon in music of any age, even when I know every single nuance in one of his recorded songs the actual arrangement becomes more clear, showcasing Elliott's knowledge and taste.

To me, this song has always been the quintessential example of Elliott's ability to write songs that straddle a very difficult line between happiness and sadness, even simultaneously. The melodies and lyrics are so painfully ingenious that it often outweighs all of the painful memories associated with listening to Elliott for me (not because I'm an adoring fan--although I am--but because his darker moments were painfully sad, regardless of who he is).
