Fixing Glocked 40S&W Brass

But as I understand it, don't you dare used "Glocked brass" back in a Glock or other pistol that has an unsupported casing near the case head. This is because even though you removed the bulge, it was over stretched in that area to begin with. If that formerly stressed area rests at the unsupported area just north of the feed ramp. kaboom! This is the greatest danger in using range brass, which I do, but my rounds are fully supported. I will toss bulged though. It is just not worth it!

Are glocks the only pistols known to cause this problem for .40s&w brass?

@spencerhutc Thanks for posting this...works like a charm for fixing "Glocked up" cases! The only thing I might add is to rub a small amount of resizing wax (I use Hornady Unique Case Lube which smells like lard) and it makes the cases resize without the pop...or less of one and makes the pressure on the press less. I am using the RCBS partner press (which is great for sizing cast bullets) which does not have the power of the Rock Chucker. Good video and very informative...Thanx, Bisley

What a well made video!

10 years ago, I made a 45acp Mauser and cut the chamber with a .470" reamer and a throatier. I tried cutting down the top of the shell holder, but it always broke. I tried diamond cutting off the bell mouth of a carbide ring, but it always cracked. I had to pound brass through a disassembled 45acp sizer die to get it to chamber. That worked, but did not look as smooth as this video.

@TrevorFurlotte It's a regular Resize/Depriming Die....

@TrevorFurlotte I always use Hornady New Dimension Dies.... raise the ram all the way up, screw in the die until it makes contact with the shellplate, and then i give it another 1/4 turn and ive never had an issue with glocked brass...

@jefallijay ok sorry for the lack , o info.. 3 lee dies carbide 40 S&W dont have a taper and no room for it on this crappy lee pro 1000 . i think i might have had it set up inproprly. can too much, too litlle flare have much effect ? anyway i still have a nice bulge at the top below tthe bullet and bye the web . much of the ammo that i get from the range is glocked.
i just put a round through my press and all seems well.. if all is well do i still have to get a taper crimp..? thanks much.

@mjmoto72 What dies are you using, and what type of crimp are you using? Also, your saying after you apply the crimp, the round won't chamber.(You should be using a taper crimp....). How far is the round getting before it stops, at the base of the case, or at the case mouth?

hey i just have seen this post what did you do.. i have the same problem. it fits when seated but after i crimp it it goes to shit.. im using a lee 1000 pro.. i know its not the best but i have to deal with it ..any tips for making 40 S&W for glocks.. im at my wits end.. thanks great vids.. i know how to seat it but when i go to crimp it shortens the OAL and then i have to make a thousand little adjustments. please make a vid on how to adjust this for 40 S& W.. thanks
Thanks for the video. I purchased the parts and it works really well. My question is, I have the RCBS dies for 40 S&W. When I seat and crimp the bullet, it no longer fits in the go/no go gauge. It does however fit in the LWD barrel. I was wondering if this is something you run into, or if you have any suggestions on how I can fix this. Thanks Much! Kirk.

@tazo300
Without seeing the ammo there is no way to tell. You must be getting the bulge out, but it sounds like something is wrong with your crimp or bullet seating.

Doesn't the carbide full length case sizing die do the same job?

@paininthe10
No, it does not. That is the whole reason for using this method on .40S&W
