A photoshop tutorial on my process for enhancing the eyes in photoshop. This is a quicker version but should give you a few tips and tricks on how I would retouch the eyes for a commercial client.

  • Awesome tutorial Adam.

I'm definitely going to implement this into my retouch process.

When shooting, I use umbrellas, and they sometimes are captured in the models' eyes. I noticed you didn't edit out your octobox. Do you find it necessary to rid these lights in the eyes?

  • what's up rrw you def need some catch lights in the eyes to add life to them. I don't like seeing the wires of the umbrella though so I would use something solid to avoid that like a softbox.

  • Adam

Great tutorial! You've opened up a whole new world to enhancing the eyes in a portrait. It was very informative, easy to follow and well worth the time. I noticed you mentioned some of the other things you might do to this portrait, I'm just curious do you use liquify to do any touch ups?

    thanks in advance!

  • Hey Gwillo no not touch ups just to slightly increase the size and raise the eyebrows slightly.

  • do you do curves or do you think it shouldn't be done

  • @AdamBonillaPhoto What type of soft box do you use? I really like the effect it gives!

  • Her eyes look animated and unnatural. I think its the white part (too white).

  • It really creeps me out what you've done to her eyes. Now they look absolutely unnatural...

  • what size tablet do you recommend?

  • Great tutorials, some techniques I haven't seen used before. Thanks!

  • Holding alt with the curves/level adjustment. Using the blend-if sliders to make restricted adjustments to lashes/whites. Both I never thought of using. Thanks a lot Adam! Really helpful :)

  • Thanks for the tips. I had never thought to enhance the eyelashes that way.

  • Hey Adam, preety good tutorial lot's of fun i like this work as well.
