Part 1 of 2 - This watercolour landscape painting tutorial features Sutton Park near Birmingham. In this lesson I try and show how you can use a photo as a reference for your painting. I'm using 15" x 11" watercolor paper weighing 130lb. My main brush is the large Ron Ranson hake - excellent for the fast and loose watercolor painting technique. I've kept the colours to just 3 for this winter scene: Raw Sienna, Burnt Umber and Ultramarine.

  • @henrycems When I’m not doing a water scene I do prefer a path to draw the viewer to the focal point.

  • I like the path it draws your interest to the center of the painting. On to part two.
